This school is about 50 years old, but during Yanoya project, the school was relocated to the newly formed village known as Malporuwa. The village is next to the Yan Oya reservoir.

Pamburugaswewa Vidyalaya - Wild Elephant Attack 2023-04-10
Glass windows and some parts of the buildings were damaged by an elephant on 10-April–2023, night.
The computer room windows were all destroyed with a concrete beam on one building, plus the entrance door. The two volunteer teachers who is under SVV salary program, Imesha Lakmali and Hansani Kaushalya, informed me of the damage and I informed my nephew Amal de Silva, who lives in California, USA for financial help to do the repairs. Total cost was estimated around LKR 100,000.00 and he agreed .
Imesha and Kaushalya took the full responsibility of the repairs and completed the work.
