During early 2020 ,Late  B.A. Mahipala , Kulathunga Rajapaksha and Luckey de Silva , visited the newly formed villages under Yan Oya project .

These villages are  Malporuwa , Bakmeegama  Kajuwatta , Wehera Wewa , Thalgas Wewa , to name few. But there are more than 10 villages  .

Total number of families are around 200 , and there are only few schools  to cater for the children. We  found out there is a  acute  shortage of teachers for Maths , Science and English  subjects. An immediate decision  was taken to employ local staff with GCE AL qualifications to teach as volunteers. Under Sinhala Veera Vidhana , a new payment scheme was initiated to pay a basic salary for each teacher . All the teachers  teaching  capabilities were checked and approved by the local education director at Gomarankadawala.

Today there are 15 volunteer teachers  and about 10 donors who contribute for the salary scheme .
