During early 2020, Late B.A. Mahipala, Kulathunga Rajapaksha and Luckey de Silva, visited the newly formed villages under Yan Oya project.

Total number of villages are about 15 and 5 schools provide basic education for the children. There are another about 10 schools in adjoining villages.

There is a acute shortage of teachers for Mathematics , Science and English.

Our late Bamunu Arachchi Mahipala, a great philanthropist, initiated the financial support scheme for the volunteer teachers, who teach children in far flung schools in Sri Lanka.
